NFL Preseason Gambling for New York Giants

NFL preseason wagering and football betting on the New York Giants commences with an ESPN televised competition on August 16th as the Giants play the Jets.

It is the first competition in sports betting at the new Meadowlands Stadium and the Jets will be the home team. The stadium is in fact shared with the New York Jets, so it is still to be seen if either squad has any kind of home field advantage. In NFL preseason odds for their opener, the Giants will likely be a slight underdog.

NFL preseason wagering on the Giants includes four competitions, 2 at home and 2 on the road. In fact they only play 1 true road game, since the competition versus the Jets actually isn’t most of a road game, and that is at Baltimore in Week 3. They host the pittsburgh steelers in Week 2 as well as the New England Patriots in Week 4 in NFL preseason odds.

The Giants will want to start off fast in 2010 since they’re arriving from an very disappointing season a year ago. Some individuals trust they can have a great season, seeing as how the Giants are 12-1 to win the Super Bowl. The Giants are in a pretty difficult division though and they’re just the third choice in NFL preseason odds to win the NFC East behind the cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Giants should manage to score some points this season since they have anyone back on offense. Eli Manning is arriving from a great season as he threw for 4,021 yards and 27 TDs. The trouble last season for the Giants was the running competition as Brandon Jacobs had a bad season. When he was healthy, Ahmad Bradshaw played well. The Giants signed Antrelle Rolle in the off-season so he instantly improves what was a poor secondary.

The defense was the largest difficulty for New York in 2009. They were terrible under defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan. The Giants dismissed Sheridan in the off-season and will be going with former Buffalo defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. Until they lost to the New Orleans Saints, they had started off the season with an ideal 5-0 winning history. That triggered a four game losing streak, that they never quite recovered from. They were removed from playoff eligibility when they lost to the Carolina Panthers in December.

The Giants attempted to outscore teams last year and that is rarely the way to win competitions unless you force lots of turnovers. The Giants did not do that and far too often their defense allowed more points than their offense placed. It’ll be up to Fewell to get the defense to improve and it should begin in the preseason.

The Giants rank third among all NFL franchises with 7 NFL titles to their name. They consist of four in the years prior to the Super Bowl, and three since. The last 1 was just a few years ago in 2007. The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears are the only teams with more success in their history. They have featured 15 Hall of Fame players in their history.
