Football betting handicappers do not yet know what to make of the prospects of the Arizona Cardinals for the 2010 NFL gambling year as change is in the air. Leinart threw the ball down in Dockett’s area after Dockett apparently took a swipe at Leinart’s leg. Brown shoved Dockett, guarding his quarterback, and the battle was on.
Dockett should have known better than to take a shot at Leinart, causing him to fall. A hands off policy on all quarterbacks, particularly the starters, is pretty clear in preseason practices.
For his part Dockett did not actually back down stating that the Arizona Cardinals must go all out at practice in order to be ready for the year. Arizona is a second choice with the NFL odds behind the San Francisco 49ers to acquire the NFC West.
“You can’t come out here and play 80 percent and hope to win our third division title,” stated Dockett. “It just don’t happen like that. Every day we step on the field, we have to go harder and harder and harder. We got to treat them (teammates) like they’re the 49ers. That’s the only way we are going to be able to back up all the great work and try to win our third title.” In terms of the NFL preseason betting, training camp bouts don’t genuinely mean much of anything. In this case you may wonder why Dockett would take such chances with perhaps injuring the man who is trying to fill the very huge void left by Kurt Warner. It was plain and simple dangerous to go after his ankles. On the flip side, it illustrates that Dockett, and the other competitors involved in the bout, are passionate about their team this year. You want to see that sort of thing when betting on the NFL this year. A team who goes all out during practice may be a better choice than NFL picks who are content hanging out on the sidelines and giving only half as good as they have got.
Arizona defeated the NFL lines in their preseason opener as they defeated the Houston Texans 19-16 as 3-point home longshots as the game went over the total of 33. As he prepares for the starting job, Leinart has vowed to take preseason competitions seriously.
“I’m definitely not taking preseason lightly,” stated Leinart. “I don’t think you ever do. I’m going in knowing I’m not going to play a whole lot, but I want to take advantage of those opportunities.” Arizona’s next football betting preseason game is August 23 at Tennessee.
