As the Redskins continued to be one of the worst online sports gambling values on the board, sports gambling frustration reached a boiling point a year ago. After a really successful run at Denver where he won two Super Bowls and had the Broncos in regular playoff contention, new coach Mike Shanahan arrives at Washington with much fan fare. There’s no place to go but up following a 4-12 year and Shanahan is certainly the man with the plan beginning with his unforgiving method towards Albert Haynesworth, who wasn’t allowed to practice because he wasn’t able to pass a conditioning test.
Football wagering oddsmakers became quite entertained at the regular failures of Albert Haynesworth to pass a fitness test so as to practice in preparation for the Football gambling preseason. While NFL training camps are generally mundane and tedious the Haynesworth saga provided supporters and the media with something that rivaled a daily soap opera or reality television series for almost two weeks.
He was permitted to put on pads and practice with his teammates for the first time under new head coach Mike Shanahan when Haynesworth finally demonstrated his physical fitness. Shanahan got to most out of his opportunity to make a statement to his new team that he would not bend the regulations for the two-time All-Pro Haynesworth or his $100 million contract.
Haynesworth was the only player that Shanahan pressured to take the test considering he skipped the Redskins offseason conditioning program. Haynesworth boycotted the team training sessions considering he was hoping to force a trade and also considering he said that he preferred his own trainer.
Haynesworth was claimed to have wanted out from Washington considering he wasn’t delighted about a pending switch for a 3-4 defense for the 2010 year, which the Redskins will enter as long shots with the Football preseason probabilities.
After Friday’s competition against the Bills, though, Haynesworth is coming around to the idea of a 3-4 defense. He’s admitted it is turning out to be a good defense, even though it is different than what he’s used to. The reality that Washington had a 42-17 win over the Bills could have a little something to do with his new change of heart.
Plenty of of Haynesworth’s Washington teammates were not afraid to label him as “selfish” and they were not pleased about his antics. Haynesworth’s issues with the conditioning test became a bit of a national joke and a regular headline for daily newspapers and sportscasts. He did stay afterwards to work with Washington coaches to get ready for how to play the new defensive scheme throughout the time that he wasn’t permitted to practice.
Haynesworth closed a 7-year deal with $41 million a year ago and was anticipated to be a critical asset with the football probabilities for the Redskins but was a significant disappointment in 2009 as he was sporadic and not totally in shape. He had many injuries that prompted him to miss 4 games a year ago.
The Redskins began camp with optimism that they could become something of a Football wagering surprise as Shanahan has brought in new quarterback Donovan McNabb from Philadelphia and a new attitude that is all business.
